Why Are Trailers Like Priyanka Chopra’s ‘Love Again’ Showing Us The Full Movie?
Hum picture kyun dekhen?

These days, I really feel that watching trailers of a movie is not really worth it. And as the title already suggests, there is nothing to watch in the movie after that. Trailers are supposed to leave the audience wondering what might happen in the end or you know create that sense of curiosity, but if it fails to do that, then it’s definitely no good. Let me back up my points with the example of the recently released Priyanka Chopra and Sam Heughan’s Love Again trailer. The makers chose the day of love, February 14, to release the trailer of the romantic saga. But much to my surprise, it just left me disappointed.

Love Again directed by James C.Strouse will be hitting the theatres in May this year. Its trailer was a highly awaited one by Priyanka Chopra and Sam Heughan’s fans. Now, I generally don’t prefer watching trailers before going for a film, and this practice of mine is just being more justified each day. Now, while watching the Love Again trailer, all I could think was, ‘Yeh Bhi Dikha Diya?” Trailers are meant to leave a strong impression on the viewers so they opt to go and watch it in the theatres, but if you show everything to them, will they really have any motivation to watch the final product?

The Love Again trailer not only gives out almost the whole plot of the film but also reveals the cameos, which could be that one surprising element to talk about. Well, no point keeping secrets here too. Priyanka Chopra’s husband Nick Jonas makes a special appearance in the film, and we already know that from the trailer. How sad!

What makes me even madder, is that those little romantic elements in the film, which could prove to be an “Awe” moment for the audience were also added in the Love Again trailer. For example, when Sam Heughan’s character sees Priyanka’s character for the first time in that yellow dress. I legit screamed a “NO” at that moment. When the movie is of the romance genre, you got to save these little moments for later. This genre is a guilty pleasure for many of us, and we want to be surprised with these unrealistic moments while watching the movie, not the trailer! Also, most of the films in this genre have a predictable plot, it wouldn’t hurt if we get to see such sweet surprises while watching the film. In an attempt to attract movie lovers of this genre, these kinds of trailers definitely take away the attention of viewers like me!

Even many Bollywood films fail to come up with a properly edited trailer, to create any suspense for the viewers. It’s like watching the whole film in 2 mins. This ignorance in making trailers kills me even more when the film is a thriller or horror. In fact these days we have the trend of releasing teasers too, but in my opinion, that really does no good. It’s just a trick to create hype before releasing the trailer and could rather be avoided. Thank god, Love Again did not have a teaser at least!
