Since Shreyas Iyer and Ricky Ponting joined the Punjab Kings, the team has performed remarkably well in the IPL. The Punjab Kings made their first IPL final appearance in 11 years last season, but they were defeated by the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Punjab is performing exceptionally well in IPL 2026. Punjab is yet to lose a match this season. They have 13 points and are at the top of the points standings. In 2025, Iyer was named captain of the Punjab Kings, and Ricky Ponting was appointed coach.
