Pia Bajpiee Shuns Web Shows Because People In Them Swear, Drink, Or Have Sex All The Time. Umm, But That’s The Reality Na?
We have time and again spoken up about how OTT platforms have changed the game for the entertainment industry. The content coming out from it is not only relevant but also relatable to most audiences and that is one of the many things that make web shows popular. However, there are few people who are of the opinion that most web shows promote vulgarity, swearing, and drinking. Actress Pia Bajpiee is one of the few. In fact, in a recent interview, Pia Bajpiee said she’s content sitting at home rather than exposing herself on these shows.

Pia Bajpiee, in an interview, said that she has consciously chosen to not do web shows and the main reason behind this decision is the overdose of sex scenes that dominate these shows. She goes on to say that she’d rather sit at home than do such shows just to stay in the spotlight.

The 28-year-old actress says she wants to take up projects where she won’t feel guilty or embarrassed of it in the upcoming years. Pia Bajpiee goes on to say that she picks up her projects keeping in mind her family and how they’d react when they see her on-screen. She adds vulgarity and abusive language dominates web shows and she’s not ready to do that just to be in the spotlight.

Pia Bajpiee further adds, “Unnecessary vulgarity in there with faltu ka expose. I can’t do [dry] humping and all for the sake of the camera. Mujhse nahi hoga, mere expression hi nahi aayenge. Whether the show is set in rural areas of Uttar Pradesh or in an urban setting, people are shown throwing abuses, having sex or drinking all the time.”

The Mirza Juliet actress further goes on to say that she is not against doing any sexy photoshoots or exposing in movies since there is a censor board that keeps a check on what goes out for the audience to watch. However, Pia Bajpiee says that there is no one that does the quality check for web shows. She even goes on to say that she is aware that people will troll her for her choices but she wants to take a stand for herself. In fact, she goes on to wonder what all things actors will have to do in the web shows – considering how it is going right now.

Pia Bajpiee adds that even though there are some web shows that have remained true to the storytelling process, most of them haven’t. She concludes, “That’s because so much content is coming out. Everyone is making some or the other web show. Khudh banate hain, khudh success party karte, samne wale ko pata bhi nahi chalta ke yeh kab aaya aur kab chala gaya. I don’t feel like doing such projects. Many people told me to do some web shows, nahi toh ghar par beth jaoge… But I love my house, and dont mind sitting at my place.”

I don’t know about you, but I can smell the hypocrisy from all the way here. I mean, I do agree that there are scenes where characters are swearing, having sex, and drinking alcohol, but I’m sorry to burst the bubble (not really sorry) that this is the reality of the society we live in. Whether in a rural or urban setting, people of all ages are doing either some or all of these things and it is not that uncommon. We might not talk about it as openly as other countries but we do these things then what’s the harm in showing it? I mean, art imitates life, doesn’t it?
