‘Phone Bhoot’ Song ‘Kinna Sona’ Is Palatable But Why Is That Chorus So Out Of Place?!

I feel like Bollywood has not only stopped producing good movies but also palatable music. Most of it is either copied or it will be something more dysfunctional than my family. However, call me an idiot but I still find myself listening to the newer releases in hopes of an accidental banger amongst them but only find myself singing “kaaha gaye vo din…” so as per usual, I decided to give the song ‘Kinna Sona’ from the upcoming horror-comedy Phone Bhoot featuring Katrina Kaif, Ishaan Khatter and Siddhant Chaturvedi a listen. And I am not completely sure how to feel about the auditory experience I went through.
‘Kinna Sona’ is sung by Zahrah S. Khan and Tanishk Bagchi with music and lyrics by the latter. Now… it isn’t a bad song, per se. Like I can see myself not finding it annoying at a house party. But… what is that chorus?! The entire song is fine, tolerable, and palatable. But that chorus, which in my opinion should be the best part of the song is so random! It follows the overall vibe of the song but does not fit in. The beats seem all off and a sudden shift in the beats just gives the chorus a very out of place feel.

Also, a side note that has nothing to do with the music but can we just appreciate Katrina’s look in the ‘Kinna Sona’ music video?! Other than the all-red which I am a fan of the hair and makeup are SUPREME! Especially her eye makeup… *chef’s kiss*! Ishaan and Siddhant are also pretty entertaining to watch being the idiotic duo they are. The video’s choreography is also just like the song itself, palatable. Nothing great but nothing to gauge my eyeballs over which is more than what I can say for most things Bollywood has been coming up with recently.
