Peddi director Buchi Babu Sana has finally reacted to the criticism over the over-s*xualisation of Janhvi Kapoor’s character in the film. According to the filmmaker, a movie is meant to connect and inspire an audience, and not make them feel uncomfortable and disrespected. Buchi Babu Sana has acknowledged all the criticism of the film and taken it seriously.
In the Tweet, the director further added that he has immense respect for women, both on and off-screen and would never do anything to disrespect and objectify them. Buchi Babu Sana further apologised if any scene had harmed the sentiments. The director has taken the feedback and backlash seriously, and Buchi Babu Sanu has also decided to remove the questionable parts from the film. He further spoke about his commitment and responsibility as a filmmaker to uphold the dignity and respect of women and to tell stories about strong characters. He also thanked everyone for their honest opinions.

Social media is flooded with angry reactions over objectionable content in Peddi that featured Janhvi Kapoor’s character. There is undoubtedly a lot of objectification and s*xualisation of female characters on the big screen and it’s time we stop portraying women in this way. It’s 2026, can we just write female characters with substance instead of restricting them to just being eye candy for the screen?
