There has been a lot of debate on who’s to be blamed here. The director Buchi Babu Sana, as well as Janhvi Kapoor, have both received a lot of backlash regarding the latter’s overly s*xualised scenes in Peddi. The audience opined how uncomfortable and disgusting these scenes were, and the controversy has also raised serious concerns about films serving the male gaze through such camera angles. Amid this, Janhvi Kapoor’s makeup artist, Savleen Manchanda, shared a post to show her support for the actor.

The post she shared talks about how Janhvi Kapoor had already drawn a professional line and that she took a stand for herself. The post also highlights reports that mentioned Janhvi Kapoor has pointed out the problematic scene during the post-production and her ideologies aligned with the backlash that the audience has for th film. Director’s Statement

Buchi Babu Sana also reacted to the extreme backlash his film got over the questionable scenes featuring Janhvi Kapoor. The director acknowledged the feedback and apologised for hurting sentiments. He also promised to remove those scenes from the film.
