Odisha’s Sriya Lenka Becomes First Indian To Make K-Pop Debut With Girl Band Blackswan. Rock On, Girl!

Korean pop or K-pop has gotten popular all across the world with the rising popularity of so many Korean pop bands. In 2020, one such K-pop band called Blackswan made their debut and their agency DRmusic Entertainment announced last year that they conducting auditions to have one more member onboard the group. And what comes as a sweet surprise, India’s Sriya Lenka has been finalised as one of the members of the band making her the first Indian to make her K-pop debut!

India’s Sriya Lenka Makes K-pop Debut

As per reports, Sriya Lenka made it to the final selection out of the 4000 people who had auditioned to get her spot. She hails from Odisha. Along with her, Gabriela Strassburger Dalcin, now known as Gabi from Brazil was also selected. But only one of these two was going to make it to the group. But the agency decided on having both of them on board! Both these girls are currently undergoing training in South Korea.

Drmusic Entertainment took to their Instagram to announce this good news to people. Sharing a photo of Sriya and Gabi, they wrote in the caption, “Introducing new trainees.”

In another social media post, DRmusic Entertainment announced that they have launched a new programme to ‘discover and train’ new talents like Sriya and Gabi. They wrote, “‘Cygnus’, which means constellation of swan, is a project to discover and to train trainees to become stars like the Cygnus. Sriya and Gabi are the first generation of Cygnus, will be introduced soon. Thank you for your interest and support. And the Cygnus project will be continues in the future.”
