While having some money on you might obviously make life easier, being a woman in the public eye comes with struggles of its own. A testament to this is actor Neha Dhupia who opened up about her struggles as a woman in the public eye and what it is like to deal with scrutiny against one’s post-pregnancy body. In a recent interview, Neha Dhupia discusses her experience on the internet after people were commenting on her post-partum body. She firstly said that new mothers do not have the time to check social media so the comments did not affect her. However, when she did check them, they were nasty, to say the least. She spoke about how hard it can be for a mother to wake up not looking up to societal standards. And no one on the internet is kind enough to understand this struggle.
Neha questioned the authority of those who make such comments. She said that a man or a woman who has never given birth have no right to comment on a woman’s post-partum physique. She adds that it is even worse when a woman who has gone through the same ordeal is biased as well. Where is the lie?
Neha Dhupia went on to discuss her experience as a pregnant woman in the film industry and her experience working as a pregnant cop in her latest film A Thursday. She revealed that she was asked to step down from multiple roles because she was expecting but this film was not one of them. She hailed the director Behzad Khambata and producer Ronnie Screwvala for altering the role to suit her pregnancy. Neha went on to appreciate Kareena Kapoor Khan who not only worked during her pregnancy but also paved the way for other pregnant actors. Neha also took a moment to gush over hubby Angad Bedi and thank him for his support throughout her struggle with her body after her delivery. She revealed that he also accompanied her to the gym for her first day at the gym. How adorable is that!
