And the sad reality is that there is no age or social strata that a woman can achieve that will exclude them from these comments. In fact, even female celebrities aren’t excused from it, rather I’d say they face the worst of the brunt. One such actor who recently taught her trolls to mind their business is Neena Gupta. Yep, the actor gave it back to her trolls in a video wherein she talks about not judging people based on their clothes.
Neena Gupta shared a video on Instagram where she politely schooled her trolls asking them to not judge people based on the clothes they wear. The actress has time and again been trolled for wearing sexy clothes – remember the time when trolls relentlessly commented on her clothing when she went to give her book to Gulzar?

In the video, Neena Gupta is seen wearing a sexy grey dress with a plunging neckline and is warning trolls about not commenting on her clothes and judging other people on what they wear. She said in the video, “Mujhe ye isliye post karna hai kyunki aisa lagta hai ki jo log aise sexy type kapde pahante hain, jaise ki maine abhi pahne hai – wo aise hi hote hain, bekar ke. Lekin main bata du ki maine Sanskrit mein MPhil ki hui hai, aur bhi bahut kujh kia hua hai. To kapde dekh ke kisi ko judge nahi karna. Troll karne walo samajh lo (I wanted to post this because people who wear clothes like these, like the one I am wearing, are just like that, useless. But let me tell you that I am an MPhil in Sanskrit and have many other qualifications. So do not judge a person by his/her clothes. I hope you get it, trolls).”

The Badhaai Ho actor captioned the video the same as the title of his book, “Sach Kahun Toh! #sachkahuntoh #neenagupta” And I have to say that I agree with her. We really need to stop judging people – especially women on the clothes they wear. Whether we choose to wear so-called revealing clothes or wear a material that covers every inch of our body – it is our choice. If you really think about it, we don’t have such discourses on men, now do we? So, if it is okay for them to roam around bare-chested in public then my plunging neckline should not be a problem.
