Nayanthara And Vignesh Shivan Violated Surrogacy Law? TN State Health Minister Raises Concerns
Surrogacy is now becoming a common method of having children. The whole concept of welcoming a child or children through surrogacy is slowly being destigmatised. A lot of celebrities abroad and even in India have welcomed babies through this method, and the latest celebrity couple to have children via this method is Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan. On October 9, 2022, Vignesh took to his Instagram handle to announce that he and Nayanthara are now parents to twin baby boys. He shared a couple of pictures of him and Nayanthara with their newborn twin sons wherein they were seen kissing the feet of their munchkins. But it seems like the couple may have broken a surrogacy law in welcoming their kids.

As per the latest report, the Tamil Nadu state health minister, MA Subramanian, was asked by a couple of journalists about the Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan possible violating a surrogacy law. MA Subramanian said that as per the updated surrogacy law, women between the age bracket of 21 years to 36 years only can donate eggs for surrogacy. This law was updated in January this year so as prevent surrogacy from being misused.

It is now speculated that Nayanthara and Vignesh may have conceived the babies via surrogacy before this law was updated, raising concerns about whether the couple has violated the same. The TN state health minister said that the director of health services will be asked to look into the matter.
It was on June 9 this year that the couple tied the knot after having dated for five years. Four months later the couple announced that they have welcomed twin baby boys. The timeline of the law being updated, their wedding and the birth of their children have raised eyebrows.
In his Instagram post, Vignesh also shared the names of the children. A part of his caption read, “All Our prayers, our ancestors’ blessings combined wit all the good manifestations made, have come 2gethr in the form Of 2 blessed babies for u. Need all ur blessings for our Uyir & Ulagam.”

There have been reports of minor girls being exploited for their eggs by those couples who do not want to officially go for surrogacy. This led to an update in the surrogacy law that does not allow minors to donate their eggs. We hope that is not the case with Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan, and they hopefully abided by the law and proper procedure to welcome their children.
