Navya Naveli Nanda Talks About The Responsibilities Families Put On Daughters While Sons Are Expected To Do Nothing, She Has A Point!

February 24, 2022 | by Preeti Singh

The difference between the upbringing of a male and a female child in a family is quite evident. As per the social norms, women are expected to do all the household chores while men handle all the outdoor chores and sometimes even that is too much to ask for with the man of the house. The thing is, the discrimination between men and women still exists in our society and Navya Naveli Nanda is here to question this sexist notion. Recently, Navya Naveli Nanda opened up about the responsibilities and expectations families tries to put on daughters while they expect nothing from their sons. She’s got a valid point!

Navya said that even in her family her mother always asks her to serve the guest and not her brother. “I’ve seen it happen at home where if we have any guests over, my mother will always say just go and get this or go and get that and I have to play the host as opposed to my brother, who could also be doing the same thing,” she said. She further mentioned that daughters who grow up in joint families are expected to learn household chores and how to serve the guests and take care of them. Navya said that such things are not expected from the male members of the family and it makes women think that it’s their responsibility to look after the house.

Talking about the equality between a man and a woman, we have surely come a long way but still, there’s so much to achieve. We believe that if we start treating our sons and daughters equally at home, the mindset of society will change too.
