Nargis Fakri Opens Up About Being Body-Shamed For Gaining Weight, Says Pregnancy Rumours Were Funny!
Body shaming is nothing new in our society. Time and again, women have been told what an ideal healthy or rather perfect woman is supposed to look like. Women of all ages are judged on the basis of their body shape, size and flaws. Be it about not being size zero or not being curvy enough or having a scar or freckles or pigmentation, women are told how they should and shouldn’t look like. But TBH, all this is much worse in the showbiz industry. Over the years, several female artists have opened up about being body-shamed and having body image issues at some point of time in their lives. And the next one on this list is the Rockstar actress Nargis Fakri. Recently, the actress opened up about how she was initially told that she was skinny and needs to put on weight but when she put on weight she was trolled and told she looks pregnant.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Nargis Fakri shared that she has faced body shaming for a ‘short time’ while adding that people expect celebs to look a certain way and there is a lot of pressure to maintain the same. The actress said that she realised that one is ‘never good enough’ because ‘everyone has opinions’. Recalling the time when she first came to India, Nargis said that she was told that she looks skinny and needs to put on weight but she didn’t bother doing anything about it, later when she put on around 50 pounds, people began saying that she’s pregnant. She further added that she was hurt by it initially but then she worked out and lost 40 pounds.

For the unversed, Nargis Fakri took a break from acting for 3 years after her 2016 film Azhar and returned to the big screen with Amavas in 2019. During her break, there were speculations that the actress was on a maternity break and sources claimed that she was pregnant when in fact the actress had only gained weight. She later took to Instagram to share her before after pictures and revealed that she had gained weight which she shed by making lifestyle changes.

It’s extremely shameful that the actress was trolled and called pregnant due to her weight gain. What gives people the right to crack jokes, shame someone or speculate about someone’s personal life on social media due to the shape and size of their body? I think it’s high time that things change when and we all stop commenting on a woman’s body.
