Spy thrillers are in vogue in Bollywood, I would say. With Pathaan and The Night Manager ruling the audience’s screens, it is proven how much the audience missed this genre from the Hindi film industry. Well, spy thriller lovers are in for a treat as there is another film gearing up for release titled, Mrs Undercover. Starring Radhika Apte as the titular character, the cast of the film also includes Sumeet Vyas, Rajesh Sharma, and others in prominent roles. Mrs Undercover is helmed by the debutant director, Anushree Mehta. The trailer of this interesting film was dropped today, and here are more deets about it.
The three-minute-long trailer shows how Durga is a former undercover agent who is now happily settled in the role of a housewife. But duty demands her to go undercover to nab a serial killer who only targets strong and independent women. But Durga has inhibitions to o back to the field because she has not been on a mission in the last 12 years. So, will she give up or get back to save the lives of innocent women? We’ll have to watch to find out!
Radhika Apte as Durga switches between playing a sweet housewife for whom her son’s unit test is more important than an undercover mission so seamlessly, that I am anticipating she will be a delight to watch. When she has to leave her inhibitions behind and assume the role of the fearless agent she is, she undergoes a 180-degree transformation! In the trailer itself, she lands some hilarious comic punches and now I cannot wait to see what she has to offer in the film. There is a scene in the trailer where she is practising her action moves but her husband walks in on her. So, she quickly pretends like she was dancing!
Looks like Sumeet Vyas is the villain who has been going around the city killing women. He has not uttered a word in the trailer, which looks like a first, because usually actors are given more screen presence even in trailers. Rajesh Sharma has been assigned the job to convince Durga that she is fearless and indeed as strong as the Goddess.
