Made In Heaven Dowry Scene Trends Again
An episode named The Price of Love, based on dowry, was very hard-hitting and is trending yet again due to the recent case of Twisha Sharma. The episode shows the love story of Priyanka Mishra (Shweta Tripathi) and Vishal Srivastava (Ravish Desai). It starts with their wedding preparations, with the bride’s family waiting eagerly for the rituals to start, while the groom’s parents halt everything at the last moment, and ask for dowry. They initially ask for Rs 2 crores with a flat in Delhi’s Defence Colony. And after negotiations, Priyanka’s father agrees to pay Rs 4 crores instead of giving them a flat.
The scene becomes intense as Priyanka walks down toward the mandap happily. And the contrast between the festive environment and the financial humiliation faced by her family became one of the most hard-hitting one. As they begin, the wedding planner, Tara (played by Sobhita Dhulipala), tells her the truth, leading to Priyanka confronting Vishal and asking if he knew about this. He stops and admits to it and says, “The money is for us only.” This does not sit well with the bride as she walks off during the pheras with the iconic dialogue, “I’m not going to pay anyone to marry me.”
To date, this scene is very hard-hitting and depicts the harsh reality that even educated families still practice humiliating traditions like dowry. What are your thoughts on this? Let us know.
