Remember that hit 90s track called Afreen Afreen which was crooned by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan? Yep, the song that Lisa Ray featuring in it? Well, given how soulful and beautiful that song is, Lisa Ray recently revealed that she “cringes” whenever that song is played for her at events. Shocking, right? I felt the same when I read her new Instagram post wherein she has poured her heart out about why she is not a fan of this song which the world was playing on a loud volume when it released, and many even still do!

Lisa Ray took to her Instagram to share a short clip of her song Afreen Afreen, and penned a lengthy note on why she is not too happy to be associated with the track. She started her note by writing that she has felt uncomfortable while sharing the milestones of this track which has been sung by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan because of how strongly she was associated with the song. Lisa further wrote that this song plays in the background when she is invited to events to talk about other aspects of her life, and she cringes when she hears it but manages to keep a polite smile on her face.

The classic Afreen Afreen song has been remade multiple times in the past but a personal favourite remains the rendition sung by Momina Mustehsan and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan for Coke Studio. The original was a part of the Sangam album which was a collaboration between Nusrat Sahab and Javed Akhtar.
