Le Sserafim HOT Trailer Video Sparks Plagiarism Accusations

A viral post circulating online shows a comparison of Le Sserafim’s upcoming album’s teaser video and a Mugler fragrance ad featuring model Anok Yai. The internet spotted several similarities between the two video’s aesthetic. This led to a massive debate on the internet. While some internet users said that the similarities are so close to call it plagiarism, others added that it could simply be a case of inspiration or coincidence.

The debate is raging online. Some fans of Le Sserafim defend the group, saying that inspiration can come from various sources and that the  teaser, while visually similar to the Mugler ad, still has its own unique elements. Others, however, are not convinced. They point to the specific similarities in the visuals and argue that the line between inspiration and imitation has been crossed. 

One user wrote, “why are k-pop idols always stealing from black people? and then when confronted their fans wanna throw a tantrum.”Whereas, another user wrote, “editing out the other 117 seconds of the trailer just to hate on ssera. oh we know who u are.” Joining the discussion, one user wrote, “… lesserafim hate train is crazy like what did those girls do to make everyone on twt grab their pitchforks? The plagiarism allegations are insane considering the entire kpop industry continually plagiarises black artists and culture.”
