The internet always has something to say about K-drama announcements and casting choices. While some actors receive love and support, others face criticism for their roles in upcoming projects. This time, actor Lee Jin Uk is facing backlash after it was announced that he would star alongside Girls’ Generation’s Lim Yoona in a new Korean drama. The casting news has brought back discussions about his past controversy, with many questioning the decision to include him in the series.
Why Are People Upset Over Lee Jin Uk’s Casting In Lim Yoona’s Upcoming Series?
Lee Jin Uk will star in the Korean remake of the award-winning Japanese series Unnatural. The upcoming tvN drama follows forensic pathologists who investigate unnatural deaths and uncover the truth behind each case. However, the casting announcement did not go down well with everyone. Many internet users brought up the sexual assault allegations against the actor in 2016 and questioned why he was chosen for the project.
As per reports, in 2016, Lee Jin Uk was accused of sexual assault by a woman. The actor denied the allegations and filed a countersuit, claiming that the woman had made false accusations against him. He was later cleared of the charges after the woman withdrew her complaint. However, she later claimed that she had been pressured into withdrawing it.
Later, Lee Jin Uk challenged the decision, and the woman was sentenced to eight months in prison for making false allegations. However, some internet users continue to question the actor’s past and express support for the woman.
