The internet seems to never get tired of criticising female celebrities. Recently, Kusha Kapila faced backlash on X after photos and videos from a birthday party showed her near Samay Raina. Many called her a hypocrite right away. They remembered the old drama between them from a roast show. Back then, Samay made some very edgy and personal jokes about Kusha’s divorce and private life. She felt deeply hurt and spoke up strongly against how women are often mistreated in comedy circles.
She blocked him, stood her ground, and felt relieved when his show, India’s Got Latent, got banned for a while. Now that the show is returning, her presence at the same party has made many accuse her of flipping her principles just for career benefits, money, and fame.

Kusha did not stay quiet. She shared her side of the story on Instagram. She explained that they used to be friends. Samay was invited as a panellist for the roast hosted by Ashish Solanki. There was no script shared beforehand, no contract, and no advance warning about the jokes. Everything was done based on trust. Kusha had no idea what was coming. The jokes were really painful and crossed the line. She still believes they should have been censored or stopped.
It took her a long time and a lot of therapy to heal from the shame and public ridicule she felt that day. She truly wished the roast had never happened. Kusha made it clear she never celebrated Samay’s downfall. When media outlets reached out asking her to speak against him, she chose not to. Today, they are not friends. She has no plans to ever join his show. They have simply tried to be cordial, understand what went wrong, and move forward without dragging each other online.

Further, at the birthday party, Kusha went because the host, Jasleen, kindly invited her. Samay happened to be there too, but they did not hang out or even talk much in that moment. She politely asked the meme accounts and others to stop pushing old narratives and spreading rumours. Kusha also urged people to stop minimising women. Well done!
