Deepika Padukone’s character Veronica from Cocktail will forever be iconic. Now that the film’s second part starring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna is out, people have started drawing comparisons with the first part. Naturally, comparisons between Veronica and Kriti’s Ally also started making rounds online. However, it seems that Kriti saw this coming and is seemingly not letting it affect her. Kriti Sanon On Ally’s Comparison With Deepika Padukone’s Veronica

While conversing with Filmfare, Kriti Sanon stated that she was aware that she would face such comparisons when she signed Cocktail 2. She expressed expecting it. The actress shared that it was kind of obvious as she was doing a film, which is a franchise of the movie that Deepika had done before. She added that Veronica and Ally have somewhat similar energy, being slightly disruptive, unhinged, and free-spirited. However, she clarified that both the characters are very different, adding that she was glad for the same. Kriti questioned why she would play the same character that Deepika has already done? This didn’t make sense to her. She explained that Cocktail 2 was a completely different story with completely different conflicts and different characters. Talking about her character, the actress stated that Ally has her own personality, even though it may seem like it’s coinciding somewhere. Kriti clarified that Ally is a completely different person from Veronica.

During the conversation, Kriti Sanon also reportedly gave her take on the constant comparison between actresses. She revealed she has learned not to get affected by that. The actress expressed how important self-assurance was and shared that such things are often done to create buzz, adding that it is sometimes utilised to make people insecure. Kriti shared that everyone brings something different to the table, adding there’s no one way of doing a scene. The Mimi star said that the only race that she’s in is that she wants to do better than what she has done before. Kriti expressed wanting to grow and her next performance to feel like, “Oh, this is her best,” or “This is better than the previous one,” adding that it is an achievement to her because that charts her growth.
