Konkona Sensharma’s Views On Gender Identity And Being Androgynous Are So Refreshing. We’re Glad She Spoke About This!

Let’s think about this, how do we know about our gender and the concept of it all? For years, we’ve just been told about the gender assigned to us at birth but there’s a lot more to it. And most of us have spent years unlearning things to learn the right things. Sadly, not many people open up about their gender identity and more. More so, when it comes to celebs. We haven’t heard my celebs open up and talk about things like this but looks like change is here. Recently actress Konkona Sensharma opened up about her gender identity and need for space in life.

In a conversation with Harper’s Bazaar India, Konkona Sensharma revealed that she does not relate to her gender and doesn’t believe in the concept of gender. She went on to share that she does not see herself as a woman but sees herself as completely neutral. She went on to add that she has always felt androgynous. “I don’t view myself as a woman. I see myself as being completely neutral. Gender is a taught concept that I don’t relate to. Even when I have to be very feminine in a film, I have to learn how to. There’s no one way of being a woman or a man or anything in between… I’ve always felt a bit androgynous,” said the actress. For the unversed, Androgyny is when someone has both masculine and feminine characteristics in terms of biological sex, gender identity or gender expression.
