Taapsee Was Asked Why She Isn’t Invited To ‘KWK’? So Is The Show Now Some Benchmark Of Popularity?

Koffee With Karan changed the face and game of Indian television as it was one of the most forthcoming talk shows in the country. It got the audience instantly hooked to it as celebrities from the industry graced the couch and spilt piping hot coffee (read as gossip) about their contemporary actors in the industry and also about the juicy details of their private life. The show also saw celebs taking a dig at each other, calling out each other and many tongue-n-the-cheek moments were created as a result of this.

As much as we enjoy the show, people should treat it just like another entertainment show that they watch. The growing obsession with Koffee With Karan is the problem here. And I’ll tell you why. At a recent press event, Taapsee Pannu was asked why she hasn’t been invited to this Karan Johar show. To this, the actor threw shade and said that maybe she is not invited because her sex life is not as interesting as the others.

The first question that I have here is why to ask Taapsee about if she has been “invited” to the show or not. How does that concern her work and her films? Additionally, her response is not a dig at the show but a fact that all Karan talks about on the show these days is about sex, how many times the celebrity has sex, with who they have sex with and whatnot. Being a huge platform, he can address so many things apart from the gossip. One classic instance of this was when Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Akshay Kumar came as guests, she talked about the pay disparity in the industry and how conveniently he brushed this serious topic aside.

Now the second problem here is that the celebrities who come on the show get severely criticised for their responses but at the same time, people also ask celebrities why are not “invited” to the show. So, people, you just want celebrities to come to Koffee With Karan, know what they say about their lives and others, and you also want to judge them for their responses? What are these double standards?

So, all-in-all, please treat Koffee With Karan as a source of entertainment and not a benchmark of popularity which much be attended by every celebrity in the industry.
