Trust Kim Kardashian to find unexpected ways to get us talking about underwear yet again. Just when you thought SKIMS had redefined every inch of shapewear, she dropped another collection featuring merkins- yes, faux p*bic hair thongs that are available for a shocking 32 dollars, i.e., almost Rs 3,100. And while the rage against it was foreseen by everyone on this planet, one might argue that this is a peak Kardashian rage bait we saw coming from her.

About Kim Kardashian’s Bush Thong

If there’s one thing that is certain about Kim Kardashian, or Kardashians in general is their awareness of what we as the audience want. To be more precise, their art of ‘creating’ a ‘need’ for some of their controversial products, like the n*pple bra and now this, is something she thrives on. So, when she launched merkins for the 21st century, the world stopped and decided to give their two cents too. For the unversed, a merkin is essentially a wig for the p*bic region.

If you date back to the 15th century, merkins were originally used by s*x workers to cover signs of disease or hair loss. It was later adopted into theatre and films to maintain modesty while still giving the audience an illusion of nudity. And today, they’re less about concealment and more about making a statement with this latest launch. The technique is peak her, controversial, debatable, and completely bankable. Who can say we didn’t see it coming?

The faux bush underwear comes in neutral tones and is designed to look surprisingly natural. It’s part of a larger collection celebrating body confidence and inclusivity, even if some may see it as pure spectacle. Of course, we will also point at the big, fat capitalism debate, and the point of the growing absurdity of the internet, but if we have learnt anything, it is that social commentary and brand launches go hand in hand now.

But whether you’re curious, amused, or slightly horrified, one thing is clear: Kim isn’t phased. Every click, every share, every mention online adds another sale to her empire.
