Katrina Kaif Asked Rohit Shetty To Cast Her In Female Cop Movie, He Shot Her Down. We’re Not Surprised.
We are all aware of the lack of female leads and women-centric there is in Bollywood. While there have been improvements in this arena, we could still be doing better. Most are still stuck in this archaic notion about movie plots in which the male lead is some macho and badass dude while the female lead is usually just there in the background. She usually has no real contribution to the plot, is there just to hype the lead actor up, for him to romance with and sing songs with. One such example of this is Rohit Shetty movies, quite recently Sooryavanshi, that tend to follow this same plot point. So imagine my delight when I heard Katrina Kaif mention that she talked to Shetty about starring her as the protagonist in a female cop movie. And imagine my unsurprised disappointment when she continued to say that he shot the idea down.

On November 7, Katrina Kaif and Akshay Kumar made an appearance on The Kapil Sharma Show to promote their recently released movie Sooryavanshi. During their conversation, Katrina opened up about talking to Rohit Shetty about the making of a female cop movie, considering that he has made a plethora of cop movies with leading men. Katrina Kaif proposed the idea of her being the leading woman in a production like this (yes, please!). However, Shetty shot her down saying that she couldn’t work in a movie like that because she already worked in Sooryavanshi; which is a reasoning that is lost on me.
According to Bollywood MDB, Rohit Shetty had mentioned that he is working on and will be introducing a female cop to his plethora of cop movies or his copverse. However, there has been no update on one coming out soon. The idea that Katrina Kaif gave was genuinely something that should be taken into consideration. Why is there no woman leads in Rohit Shetty’s cop-verse? And why has there been no efforts from his end to change that?
