Exclusive: “She Was Emotional,” Says Scoop Actor Karishma Tanna On Her Meeting With Journalist Jigna Vora
Films based on real-life incidents or inspired by somebody’s life are always intriguing to watch. It shows you ground realities that otherwise would never be known to a layman. Very soon, actress Karishma Tanna is coming with a crime-thriller series Scoop directed by Hansal Mehta and based on journalist Jigna Vora’s memoir, Behind Bars In Byculla: My Days In Prison. In a recent interaction with Hauterrfly, the actress talked at length about her meeting with Jigna Vora and how she prepared for the character of Jagruti Pathak.

The Netflix series Scoop stars Karishma Tanna in the leading role of a popular crime reporter Jagruti Pathak. In a recent interview with Hauterrfly, the actress shared her experience of meeting the journalist Jigna Vora in person. Karishma Tanna said, “During the end of the schedule, Jigna came on the shoot and I met her for the first time, she was very happy and emotional that we were inspired by her book.”

Karishma Tanna was also asked about the ways in which she prepared for the role of a journalist. To which the actress shed light on all the groundwork she did before going for the shoot. The Scoop actress said, “I did my fieldwork which is shadowing a crime reporter. I also met ex-journalist Ankur Pathak who taught me a journalist’s body language and how to get information from the police.” Karishma Tanna also visited the real jail as part of her preparation for the role.

Season 1 of Hansal Mehta’s Scoop will also feature other actors such as Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub, Harman Baweja, Prosenjit Chatterjee and Deven Bhojani in pivotal roles. The crime drama series is all set to release on Netflix, on June 2.
