Kriti Sanon recently faced a lot of backlash after her clothes were criticised in a Rakshabandhan ad for Giva. While many supported her, others slammed her for this, stating that it hurt “religious beliefs.” Amid this, during the trailer launch of her upcoming film Daayra, actor Kareena Kapoor Khan was asked about the same, but the actor looked hesitant and instead let her director Meghna Gulzar address it. Kareena Kapoor Khan was asked if she had any limits to what she could or could not wear on screen. To this, director Meghna Gulzar replied, stating that an actor or actress would be dressed as per the character they play in the film, and that it was unfair to ask this of an actor. The controversy started after the brand released a Raksha Bandhan ad featuring Kriti Sanon. The actor was seen celebrating the festival by tying a Rakhi to her brother and to her pet dog. She was seen wearing an Indo-Western ensemble with a bralette-style blouse, a cape, and a draped skirt.

While the aim was to present a heartwarming advertisement on the occasion, many slammed it and criticised Kriti’s outfit, stating that it was inappropriate for a festival. The backlash drew so much attention that the brand decided to take this advertisement down and release a statement clarifying their stance. The actor was also presented with much hatred from many, and even actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut.
