Kanika Maheswari Faces Heat For Calling Out Casting Director’s Shocking Demands. Why Does Society Fear Women Who Speak Up?
Kanika Maheswari opened up about how a casting director called her for a role and casually mentioned intimate scenes.
In the 21st century, society still struggles to accept women who speak up against trolls or share strong opinions. When a female actor or singer stands up for herself, many netizens quickly get angry and leave mean comments. They expect women to stay quiet and accept everything without protest. A recent case involves Kanika Maheswari, known for her role in the popular show Diya Aur Baati Hum. She recently appeared in an exclusive interview with Hauterrfly’s The Male Feminist, hosted by Siddhaarth Aalambayan. There, she opened up about a troubling experience with a casting director.
Kanika Maheswari Claps Back At Casting Director’s Shocking Demands But Internet Attacks Her
During the interview, Kanika described how a casting director called her for a role and casually mentioned intimate scenes. He asked if she was comfortable showing her legs, thighs, and a bit more in smooch and bed sequences. Instead of staying silent, she gave a bold reply.
She said, “I’m into p*rn films. If you have anything like this, you let me know. So, I hung up. I said, idiot. He called again and asked, ‘Ma’am, what are you saying?’ I said, what’s wrong, dear?’ ‘You want me to show everything. ‘ So, let’s just do p*rn films. They’ll pay me more. He said, ‘No, ma’am, everyone does everything these days.’ In response, I said, ‘But you should at least have the manners to ask. How can you ask me like this?”
The short video clip from the interview went viral on Instagram. Sadly, many netizens did not support her take. Some judged her and used bad words against her. Others called her response nonsense and questioned why she reacted that way. This kind of backlash is common whenever women in the public eye choose to hit back.
It raises an important question about our society. Why do people find it so hard to accept a woman who has her own voice and refuses to be disrespected? Many still believe women should remain silent and never challenge their ideology. But, no! Everyone has the right to speak up.
