In recent events, actor-turned-politician Jaya Bachchan has yet again found herself in the middle of a controversy after a video of hers from the INDIA bloc’s protest went viral. This viral video caught Kangana Ranauts attention who shared it on her Instagram stories and slammed Jaya Bachchan over denying the reporter an answer to the question. For the unversed, the veteran actor had participated in the opposition protest when a reporter came to her with a question about Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. In the now viral footage, Jaya was seen pushing the microphone away with her hand before saying that she won’t be answering the question. This brief interaction quickly spread on social media and, yet again, shed light on her controversial relationship with media and photographers.

Kangana Ranaut highlighted how it was hypocritical of Bachchan to refuse to answer questions while participating in a public protest. She said that the point of sitting in a protest is to put one’s point across the world, and refusing to answer the media while being there didn’t make sense. For the unversed, this is not the first public spat between the two. Their exchanges go back to a heated debate over Bollywood after the death of Sushant Singh Rajput in 2020. In August 2025, Bachchan was also pushing a man who came close to her while taking a selfie outside Delhi’s Constitution Club; Ranaut criticised Jaya for her behaviour on social media back then also.
