Kangana Ranaut Wraps ‘Emergency’ Shoot, Reveals She Mortgaged Property For It

It is often heard that actors and actresses go the extreme length to prepare for their roles in films. For instance, it took Amitabh Bachchan four hours to look like his character in Paa because the prosthetics took time and how Ranveer Singh isolated himself for 21 days to get into the skin of Khilji’s character in Padmaavat. It is a similar case with Kangana Ranaut who has undergone a major transformation for her role in Emergency as India’s first female prime minister Indira Gandhi. That is not it, Kangana has also revealed that she had to mortgage all her property for this film as she is serving as the producer of this film as well under her own production house, Manikarnika Films.

Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency wraps up
Taking to the Gram, Kangana also shared a couple of pictures of her in the director’s role to announce the wrapping of her upcoming film Emergency. She also penned a lengthy caption about the hardships she faced while filming and how she is ‘reborn’ after this film. The 35-year-old actress said that people might think she sailed through this film smoothly but that is far from the truth. She wrote that she had to mortgage all her properties and every single thing she owned for this film.

Kangana Ranaut went on to reveal that her health took a hit as well when she was diagnosed with dengue while shooting the first schedule of Emergency. She also mentioned that despite having low blood cell counts, she kept filming. Furthermore, sharing an important message about the fruit of hard work, Kangana wrote that one must hold on to themselves in difficult times. See her post below.

Emergency marks Kangana Ranaut’s second directorial venture after the 2019 film Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. Emergency’s cast includes Mahima Chaudhary, Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Milind Soman, Satish Kaushik and Vishak Nair. It is a biographical film on Indira Gandhi and will likely focus on the period between 1975 to 1977 when she imposed emergency throughout India. We are awaiting details about Emergency’s release date.
