High Court Orders Trial Court To Adjourn Kangana Ranaut’s Defamation Case Till September 8
Kangana Ranaut has been a very outspoken celebrity. The actor often puts forth her opinions on current issues of national importance. She has also landed up in a lot of controversies because of this. In a similar incident, the actor’s tweet in 2021 during the farmers’ protest landed her in a defamation case which is still ongoing. On January 5, the defamation case was filed by Mohinder Kaur of Bahadurgarh Jandian village in Bathinda. The tweet was about a comparison between Mohinder Kaur and an old woman who had extensively protested against the CAA, also popularly known as the Shaheen Bagh Dadi. The case is currently being heard by a trial court in Bhatinda, however, as per the sources, the High Court has asked for the case to be adjourned till September 8.

Kangana Ranaut’s lawyer Abhinav Sood informed that the high court asked the trial court to adjourn the matter beyond the fixed date which is September 8. The decision on the defamation case by the High Court came soon after Kangana’s plea seeking a stay order on the case. As per a report, the complaint filed by Mohinder Kaur stated that the actor’s tweet was bad for her reputation and prestige. It further claimed that Kangana made false comparisons. However, on the other hand, Kangana Ranaut has denied accepting the allegations and as per her, the complaint has just been made to fulfill some political revenge, as per reports. The actor further stated that the “false and baseless” accusations were passed by the court without authentic inquiry, and also claims that there is no evidence to back these claims. The plea by Kangana had also stated that the same comparison was made by other Twitter and Facebook users as well and that she had only retweeted the post.
