Kangana Ranaut Ridicules ‘Brahmāstra’ Surpassing ‘Kashmir Files’ At Box Office. Claims KJo Has “Model” Ensuring His Films Succeed

Kangana Ranaut Ridicules ‘Brahmāstra’ Surpassing ‘Kashmir Files’ At Box Office. Claims KJo Has “Model” Ensuring His Films Succeed

Kangana Ranaut has been crowned as the controversy queen of Bollywood. More than her films, she is now talked about for her crusade against nepotism in Bollywood. But many (including me) do believe that she has taken the entire thing up a notch to just relentlessly finding faults in everything. She had earlier also made some negative remarks about Brahmāstra. Kangana has now reacted to Vivek Agnihotri’s tweet about Brahmāstra surpassing his movie, The Kashmir Files in the box office and she is not happy about it!

This all started when director Vivek Agnihotri tweeted about rumours claiming that Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmāstra had “beaten” The Kashmir Files at the box office. Kangana Ranaut shared his tweet on her Instagram stories and attacked Karan Johar.

Referring to KJo as “Hollywood mafia” numerous times Kangana wrote that according to “mafia minions”, Karan Johar’s film (Brahmāstra) has beaten The Kashmir File in her note. She then went on to ask, “Karan Johar ji aap kya cheeze ho yaar”. Kangana Ranaut shared multiple stories about this on her Instagram stories claiming that KJo has some “model” for his movies that ensure that they do well in the box office. She wrote, “Thugs of Hindustan (2018) earned around ₹280 crore worldwide gross and its budget was also around ₹280 crore… Lekin they didn’t spend on PR machinery. Nahi toh with the new KJo models, no film will ever flop.”

Reports claim that Brahmāstra made 17 crores on Sunday during its second weekend of release. The film, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, hit the 200 crore milestone in India and the 350 crore mark worldwide.  Kangana has previously questioned the success of the Ayan Mukerji-directed film’s box office take, saying that a film with a budget of 650 crores could not be considered a success after earning 246 crores in a few days.

While we can debate the validity and how unfair nepotism is, we can’t deny that it is a part of any industry. I don’t get why Kangana Ranaut thinks that she has to comment on anything and everything that happens within Bollywood, whether it concerns her or not. While she keeps saying that the only deciding factor in the success of an actor or film should be the audience, she is the first to start talking about people being paid off the moment any film involving KJo and star kids do well. Similarly, she also believes that her films aren’t doing well because people are being paid to give them low ratings. So what is it? Does the audience’s opinion matter or not? Or is that simply based on convenience?
