The issue started when a short video spread online. It showed Wonyoung at an identity check point. She lowered her mask slightly when a staff member asked to confirm who she was. According to viewers, she had to do it again before taking her passport and walking off. Some people felt she should have taken off the mask fully from the beginning. Others said her way of grabbing the passport and leaving without a proper greeting looked impolite.

As the discussion grew bigger and intense, people began posting old videos of other idols. Clips of BLACKPINK’s Jennie and members from aespa surfaced. Netizens used them to show that many female idols have been slammed for the same reason. However, others came in defence. They said that idols often feel tired from long work hours and travel. Fans believe short clips can be misunderstood easily and hurt the idols’ image. Hence, they asked for more understanding instead of blaming them quickly.
