Okay, I’ll admit that BTS is the biggest boyband in this world right now and I find myself watching their music videos because their choreography is mind-blowing. However, I do listen to other K-pop artists and bands as well and let me tell you, they all are so talented, I can’t help but obsess over them. Well, speaking of K-Pop and BTS, many fans recently called out The New Yorker’s article on BTS written by a Korean journalist as she demeaned other K-Pop boybands – SHINee and BIGBANG while praising the Bangtan boys. This is not a good thing at all!
Recently, a journalist who works for The New Yorker wrote an article about the famous K-Pop boyband BTS and it has irked many K-Pop fans. In the article titled ‘Joining the BTS Army’, she wrote about the rise of the Korean boyband. However, the article has invited a lot of controversies because the journalist named Tammy Kim mentioned several other K-pop idols in the story but not in a good way. In the article, she mentioned the unfortunate suicide of Kim Jonghyun, a member of SHINee and BIGBANG members’ controversies while praising BTS.

After she posted the article on her social media account, fans criticised her article and pointed out that Jonghyun’s demise and BIGBANG’s legal issues have nothing to do with BTS’ fame.
Take a look at their reactions:
They are saying that Tammy Kim unnecessarily dragged both the bands in her story and demanded an apology from her and the news publication.
This article screams DISRESPECT There is no need to dragg Jonghyun and Big Bang into this just to praise BTS when both are BTS's seniors and they have nothing to do with the whole point of your article.#TammyKimApologize #NewYorkerApologize https://t.co/DK3QqzyI4N

I’m really perplexed! how can this be published? @NewYorker No fact checking, using an artist death to promote good deeds of another group, lying about artists to promote this same grp & u call urself “a very serious reporter”! Time to report & block, up to us to empty the trash! pic.twitter.com/V3VFWUJjx5

while jonghyun was using his platform to get korean laws changed, bring attention to israeli occupation, call out discrimination towards transgender people, you’re out here disrespecting him to get a few clicks https://t.co/aRqq1lpjsO

if you want to talk about paving the way then lets talk about jonghyun being one of the very first people in kpop to openly advocate for mental health, support a trans student, talk about women's rights and overall use his platform as a voice for those who need it

Stop acting as if you are a better person dan we r. Using another artist, spreading lies just to uplift another grp is disrespectful and totally unprofessional. These so called journalists should know their place and be held accountable. #TammyKimApologize #NewYorkerApologize https://t.co/ouXmv62q4i

Apologize to SHINee and BIGBANG now. hire better staff who are trained for good articles and not who create false and tabloid content. we demand respect#TammyKimApologize #NewYorkerApologize pic.twitter.com/JyGqLCDWr3

First of all, Kim Jonghyun is much more than a suicide case. If you are going to write about him, then let it be about his legacy as an artist.
It’s unnecessary to specifically correlate BTS’s UNICEF campaign to his passing.#TammyKimApologize #NewYorkerApologize pic.twitter.com/94QpfSoFI2— annapagnin // fan account (@xnnxpxgnn) June 21, 2022

I honestly don't understand the correlation between the LGBTQ+ community and BIGBANG's legal cases. I also believe that is pointless to talk about BIGBANG in an article focused on another idol group.#TammyKimApologize #NewYorkerApologize

Don't try to hide behind "free speech" when you know what you said was incredibly damaging to not 1, nor 2, but 3 groups. You are not a victim. We have asked you nicely to remove your insensitive remarks. Please do the right thing.— Cai | SHXVee IS COMING (@diphylleiagay) June 22, 2022
