Recently, it was reported that ALPHA DRIVE ONE member Kim Geonwoo would take a break from the group because of an old controversy about his behaviour. Following which, his fans sent protest trucks to the CJ building, as they wanted the company to bring him back. The signs on the trucks mentioned the high cost of debuting him and said his return would help the group make more money. Many people online felt the words on the trucks were too harsh and believed the company bosses would not even notice them.
On April 8, the group’s agency, Wake One, finally gave an official statement. They apologised to fans for replying so late. The agency admitted they had not guided or managed their artists well enough.
The agency explained that the incident happened during filming for content before the group’s debut. Kim Geonwoo used rude and inappropriate words when he thought his microphone was off. He was only talking to himself out of frustration and did not mean to hurt anyone. However, the agency agreed that his words were still wrong and unprofessional.
They gave a heartfelt apology to the staff members who might have felt upset or uncomfortable. The company also shared that Kim Geonwoo had quickly apologised to the production team right after the moment. At that time, everyone talked it over and believed the issue was solved. That is why no public announcement was made earlier.
