Johnny Depp’s Lawyer Hints He May Not Take Damage Money From Amber Heard, Says Lawsuit Was Never About Money

His lawyer recently hinted that he may not take the damage money from his ex-wife, actor Amber Heard as the lawsuit was never about the money.

After six weeks of trials, the jury gave a mixed verdict in this high-profile defamation case, they mentioned that both Johnny Depp and Amber Heard were guilty of defaming each other. For the unversed, the jury ordered Heard to pay $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages to her ex-husband. They also awarded $2million in compensatory damages to her. However, Johnny Depp’s lawyer – Benjamin Chew hinted that the Pirates of the Caribbean actor might not take money from Heard. When George Stephanopoulos – Good Morning America host asked Depp’s lawyer Benjamin Chew if Depp would say yes to a settlement where Heard agrees not to appeal the case in exchange for him waiving the damage money. Chew hinted that it can happen.

Benjamin Chew also mentioned that the defamation lawsuit was never about the money for his client – Johnny Depp. He added that it was about restoring his reputation and he did that.
