It seems that now, Hollywood stars are also joining hands with the Indian celebrities to talk about this movement. Amid the ongoing protest, Hollywood actor John Cusack took to his X handle and attached a link to an essay titled “Cockroach Democracy: Unarmed and Dangerous” by Arundhati Roy. He simply captioned it, “Beautiful news from my favorite fellow cockroach.” This guaranteed mixed reactions. However, it’s important to note that many people thanked the actor for talking about it online. An X user commented, “Thank you for speaking up for India!” It is also worth noting that John had reportedly supported the students during the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in 2019. Indian Celebrities Who Were Detained During Protest
During the protest, multiple Indian celebrities joined hands with the youth during the CJP protest. However, things took a turn when the news about Ayesha Khan, Ranaq Rajani, Abish Mathew’s reported detention started going viral. Influencer Uorfi Javed shared a video in which she claimed she was almost detained by the police. Additionally, celebrities including Sonakshi Sinha, Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Twinkle Khanna, Sahiba Bali, Ratna Pathak Shah, Vir Das, Imran Khan, and more have backed the movement!
