As women, we always have to be alert all the time. We have to do whatever it takes to ensure we’re safe, be it outside or within our homes. We often come across cases of men clicking pictures and taking videos of women without their consent. This is also why we’re on high alert when we’re out. But imagine, you’re sitting in the comfort of your home, feeling safe and protected inside the 4 walls of your house but suddenly, you spot someone capturing you with their camera. Well, this is the life of celebrities. Late last night, Alia Bhatt took to Instagram to call out paparazzi for clicking pictures of her when she was lounging around in her living room. Reacting to the post, Janhvi Kapoor stood in solidarity with the actress and hit out at paps for invasion of privacy.
Sharing a screenshot of Alia Bhatt’s Instagram story, Janhvi Kapoor condemned the actions of the paparazzi while calling it “disgustingly intrusive”. Janhvi called out the publication for repeatedly invading the privacy of celebs. Recalling her own experience with the paparazzi of the publication, the actress shared that despite continuous requests from her, they continue to click her pictures without her consent or knowledge. Janhvi shared that they click her pictures when she’s inside the gym through the glass door. She went on to point out that the gym is supposed to be a private space where one does not expect to be photographed.

Speaking further, Janhvi Kapoor highlighted that while it’s okay for paparazzi to show up in public places and do their job in plain sight as there’s an understanding between photographers and celebs but it’s not okay to secretly click pictures of celebs. She concluded by pointing out that zooming into someone’s personal space without consent and being stealthy while clicking their pictures and calling it “exclusive” is not a journalistic accomplishment.

She shared that she was having a chill afternoon at home in her living room when she felt like she was being watched and upon looking up she spotted 2 men on the terrace of her neighbouring building with their cameras pointing at her. She called it a “gross invasion of privacy” and said that the paps crossed all lines. Alia also tagged Mumbai Police in her post which was later deleted. However, several other celebs screenshotted the post and shared it to support Alia Bhatt. They also tagged Mumbai Police in their stories.

TBH, imagine if this was a regular woman and not a celeb. No woman would feel okay being captured in her personal space in her private time, celebrity or not. But then again, paps have been repeatedly doing this and we all know that there’s no end to it. In this rat race of who can get the most “exclusive” content, paparazzi seem to have crossed all lines over the past few years.
