IVE’s Wonyoung Accused Of Being ‘Rude’ To Junior Idol. Are People Reading Too Much Into It?
A short interaction at a music show has caught people’s attention, with some questioning IVE Wonyoung's response to another idol.
The internet can be quick to judge K-pop idols, especially women. Everything they say or do can turn into a debate, even when it is something small. The latest idol facing criticism is IVE’s Jang Wonyoung, who has often been judged for her behaviour. This time, a short interaction at a music show has caught people’s attention, with some questioning her response to another idol. Read on to know more about it.
Wonyoung has faced criticism for many of her actions in the past. Some internet users have called her a mean girl or accused her of trying too hard to get attention. However, fans have often defended her, saying that people tend to read too much into her smallest actions.

Recently, IVE appeared on M! Countdown, where A2O Lite won their third trophy. During the announcement, Rada, a member of A2O Lite, briefly interacted with Wonyoung, who was standing beside her. Rada bowed to Wonyoung, who responded with a nod and clapped as the group accepted their trophy. However, a clip of the moment soon went viral, with some people criticising the IVE member for how she responded. They questioned her reaction and turned a brief interaction into another debate.

Others came to Wonyoung’s defence and pointed out that she is a senior idol and that nodding in response to a bow was a normal way to acknowledge someone. They also questioned why such a small moment was being blown out of proportion.
This incident has once again raised questions about how female artists are treated online. Sometimes, a nod is just a nod. Does every little thing a female idol does really need to become a hot topic of discussion?
