Internet Spots The Irony As Kangana Ranaut’s Cannes Video Resurfaces After Her “Gutter” Comment On Gen Z
The viral video of BJP MP Kangana Ranaut resurfaced on Instagram after she criticised the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leader Sourav Das on her stories.
Actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut’s “gutter generation” comment on the Gen Z did but sit right with a big chunk of users on social media. And while the actor has been actively defending her comments on Instagram, many have found an old video of her partying at a Cannes after-party in 2018, where she was seen having fun. The viral video of BJP MP Kangana Ranaut resurfaced on Instagram after she criticised the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leader Sourav Das on her stories. She questioned his claims of being a student at the age of 28 and even called him “totally useless and unemployed.” This came after Sourav criticised her comments on the Gen Z and the CJP-led NEET-UG 2026 protest. Amid all this back and forth, an old video of the actor from the Cannes Film Festival 2018 dancing in a black sequined dress came out. She looked carefree while having fun, receiving mixed reactions from the internet.

While some trolled Ranaut for this and pointed out that she was being a hypocrite with her recent views while she herself was carefree and independent in he time, others argued that there was nothing problem with a little partying until she was not hurting or abusing anyone. One social media user pointed that while Kangana called the Gen Z girls “drug addicts,” who couldn’t study and couldn’t be good homemakers, there was nothing wrong with criticising her for her old videos. On the other hand, one user came to her defence and asked what was wrong with enjoying herself when she is not abusing anyone and went on to call the politician a “diva.”
