Who Is Geeta Vasant Patel, The Indian-Origin Director Of ‘House Of The Dragon’ Episode 8?

House Of The Dragon, the spinoff show of the epic fantasy show Game Of Thrones, has been receiving a lot of love from all over the world. The visuals, the dialogue, the characters of the show and the storyline has the audience hooked over it right from the first episode. With the eighth episode of HOTD being dropped on Monday, October 10, 2022, the fans have already seen a lot of deaths, gory childbirth, roaring dragons and the Targaryen children fighting with knives. So far, the audience has been appreciating the direction and bit I would like to draw your attention to the director of HOTD episode 8, who is an Indian-origin director. As per IMDB, Geeta Patel rose to fame with an Emmy nomination that her film, Meet The Patels, with her brother Ravi Patel. This romantic comedy film was released in 2014 in theatres and went on to receive positive reviews from critics and audiences alike. Geeta was onboard the movie not just as a director but also as a cinematographer, editor, producer and even a writer.

Geeta Vasant Patel donned the director’s hat for the first time with the film Project Kashmir. This directorial debut film of hers was a Sundance film and was a war thriller movie. She, then, shifted her attention toward the series and was the second-unit director onboard the web series Sense 8. This drama series is available on Netflix for streaming. Apart from Sense 8, she has gone on to direct the popular series titled Superstore, and The Great! And now, she has helmed the eighth episode of House Of the Dragon.

Apart from being in the director’s chair, Geeta has also worked as an associate screenwriter. She has also worked with prominent production houses like ABC, Universal Pictures, NBC and others.
