We always thought that nepotism was a hot topic of discussion only in India but that isn’t the case. Favouritism is prevalent everywhere, even in Hollywood. Recently, Gwyneth Paltrow has shed light on the struggles of being a star kid while on Hailey Beiber’s YouTube series Who’s In My Bathroom? The two gorgeous ladies had this discussion while making banana smoothies in Hailey’s bathroom.
Gwyneth talked about how her mother is an ‘amazing actress’ and that she grew up on sets and theatres. She said that she also wanted to do what she did and went to college very briefly because she had already begun auditioning for roles. Paltrow also talked about having tasted success at a young age which was ‘daunting and exciting’ at the same time.
Coming to the topic of nepotism, the Iron Man actress did admit that as a child of an actor, they do get access that other people do not. She also added that ‘the playing is not level in that way’. Gwyneth also went on to highlight the flip side of being a star kid by saying that once their foot is in the door which they ‘unfairly’ got in then, they have to work ‘twice as hard’ and also be ‘twice as good’.
She also talked about how people are waiting and ready to pull them down and say things like that the star kids do not belong in the industry and they are even there in the first place because of their parents. Ending her thoughts on a positive note, the 49-year-old star said that the label of being a star kid would not limit their dream nor let it have a negative impact on their career.

It was honestly surprising to hear nepotism be a topic of debate in the west because we have never seen actors or actresses speak about it before.
