If you keep up with Hollywood’s awards, you must be aware that the four main ones from the lot are the Emmy Awards, the Grammy Awards, the Oscars AKA the Academy Awards, and the Tony Awards. As an artist having won all these four trophies will definitely set them as a class apart! And those who end up bagging these four big awards, are called EGOT winners, and there only have been 17 people in history to have won them all! On February 6, 2023, Viola Davis became the 18th person to win an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony! Yes, she bagged the gramophone trophy at the 65th Grammys 2023, and was super excited about it!

Viola Davis won the Grammy Award for the audio of her memoir titled Finding Me. With this win, she becomes the third woman of colour in history to achieve this status. What makes the win all the more special is that she was the only female nominee in this category alongside Questlove, Mel Brooks, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Jamie Foxx. She won the award for best storytelling recording, narration and audiobook.
In her heartfelt acceptance speech for the Grammy Award, the 57-year-old star said that she wrote her book Finding Me for her six-year-old self to honour her life, trauma, joy and everything. She also thanked the publishing house, HarperCollins, and everyone who has been a part of her story. Davis also gave a shoutout to the two loves of her life, her husband Julius Tenon and her daughter Genesis. She called them both the best chapter of her book as well.
