‘Gaslight’ Trailer: Sara Ali Khan Is Constantly Gaslit In This Old School Haveli Horror!

Having grown up reading Agatha Christie and Sidney Sheldon, crime and murders have always remained my favourite genres as a reader. That also remains applicable to movies and shows even though sometimes, the anticipation of the climax is not as fulfilling as that of books. But the trailer of the upcoming project Gaslight seems to be quite fulfilling on that front! Starring Sara Ali Khan, Chitrangada Singh and Vikrant Massey in the lead roles, Gaslight is a murder thriller with the whodunit trope. Here are more details about the Gaslight trailer.

The beginning of the Gaslight trailer shows an old grand mansion where Sara Ali Khan AKA Meesha arrives. She is at the spooky house after she receives her father’s request to want to see her. Sara is bound to a wheelchair and when she is at the house, finds her father missing. Mysterious situations arise that hint that some fishy business has taken place with her father, and has to uncover them to know the truth.

It looks like Chitrangada Singh plays the role of Sara’s stepmother, Rukmini, who looks cunning and sharp. Even though she has a sweet and perfect wife exterior, she is definitely hiding something from Meesha. She offers to take care of her in her father’s absence but Meesha instantly realises that her father is in danger.
Vikrant Massey plays the role of Kapil, who is shown to be a close aide of Meesha’s father. You can call him his right hand. But even he is unaware of his master’s whereabouts.
The plot revolves around the missing case of Raha Saheb AKA Meesha’a father. She claims she has seen him but people around her think she is lying. The setting of the project is against the backdrop of an old haveli that looks creepy and dangerous like it has been providing shelter to more than just the people of the house.

Sara as Meesha looks very different and intriguing. She’s vulnerable but brave and not naive. Chitrangada looks glamorously shady, and Vikrant, as the close confidante, looks like he’s the good guy here. All-in-all, the Gaslight trailer is very fitting as the name because Meesha is constantly gaslit by Rukmini and others around her.
Gaslight will be available for streaming on March 31, 2023, on Disney Plus Hotstar.
