Kangana Ranaut’s Nomination Withdrawn By Filmfare After Her ‘Unwarranted Malicious Remarks’ Against Them

Kangana Ranaut has stirred controversy. Yet again. This time, she has locked horns with Filmfare. The Filmfare Awards had nominated her in the Best Actress category for her performance in Thalaivii. But instead of being happy about it, Kangana has decided to sue the portal for nominating her. She took to her Instagram stories to announce that she is going to sue them for nominating her because she does not ‘encourage such corrupt practices’ in any way. After this fiasco, it is now being said that Filmfare has decided to withdraw Kangana’s name from the list of nominations.
Filmfare took to their Instagram stories to share the reason they have decided to withdraw Kangana’s nomination. They began by saying that Filmfare’s Executive Editor informed Ranaut of her nomination and also invited her to the awards ceremony. They also clarified that they never mentioned they were going to give her an award nor did they request a dance performance. They, then, went on to say, “Given the irresponsible remarks made by Ms. Ranaut about Filmfare Awards, we are withdrawing her Best Actress nomination for the movie Thalaivii. We reserve all rights to pursue any legal action against her malicious and defamatory statements tarnishing our reputation and goodwill.”
On Sunday, August 21, Kangana took to her Instagram to claim that Filmfare to said to her back in 2013 that they will not give her an award if she does not attend the award ceremony or perform at it. She also went on to claim why was she being nominated despite knowing she was not going to attend the ceremony. Kangana did not mince her words and further said that she was being pitted against ‘mediocre work’.
