This happened after the filmmaker attended the Monsoon Film Festival, during which he talked about the iconic film Dil Chahta Hai. While conversing with The Hollywood Reporter, Farhan Akhtar revealed how Saif Ali Khan almost opted out of Dil Chahta Hai around 10 days before the shoot. Farhan revealed that the actor suddenly had some date issues, adding that the date of another film that he was going to do had shifted. He revealed that Saif was in a bit of a spot and had to leave the said movie. Farhan reflected, saying that everyone tried to convince him. Recalling how he was affected, the filmmaker stated that his head was destroyed because when he met Saif and discussed the film, there was no one else who could have played that part, adding that it was just impossible. While talking about Saif almost quitting the film, Farhan remarked that it “seems to be a pattern nowadays”, adding, “Not just with me.” This left many guessing if he hinted at Ranveer Singh and the Don 3 controversy.

For the unversed, Ranveer Singh exited the Don 3 film last year after the alleged delays and scheduling issues. This move resulted in the dispute between the actor and Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment. After a point, the Federation of Western Indian Cine Employees (FWICE) also got involved and announced a non-cooperative move against Ranveer. However, this directive was later revoked, clarifying that he had not been banned.
