Farah Khan Reveals Why She Was Against Casting Katrina Kaif In TMK, Reason Behind Launching Deepika Padukone

She confessed that while making casting choices, it’s often a director’s instinct or intuition that guides them. Sometimes, an actor who may not seem like the obvious choice ends up fitting the role perfectly, surprising everyone involved and this is what happened while casting Katrina Kaif in Tees Maar Khan and why she was sure about launching Deepika Padukone in Om Shanti Om.

The Bollywood blockbuster Tees Maar Khan, directed by Farah Khan, may have failed to make a significant mark at the box office upon its release in 2010. However, one element from the film continues to resonate deeply with audiences: the iconic song “Sheila Ki Jawani,” featuring Katrina Kaif. Surprisingly, it’s revealed that Farah Khan was initially apprehensive about casting Katrina in the film. Farah candidly revealed, “I usually stay away from obvious choices. The only time I made an obvious choice was when I cast Katrina Kaif in Tees Maar Khan. It was obvious because she had already worked in 6-7 movies with Akshay Kumar, and initially, I was against casting her. However, she ended up coming back to the project.”

Furthermore, Farah Khan shared insights into her decision to launch Deepika Padukone in Om Shanti Om. Having Shah Rukh Khan as the male lead in the film provided Farah with the confidence to introduce Deepika to the industry. According to Farah, a Bollywood leading lady should possess certain qualities, including good looks, magnetic screen presence, and a captivating persona. She hailed Deepika Padukone as the epitome of this definition, emphasizing her striking appearance, acting prowess, and exceptional dancing skills.
