Fans Slam Recording Academy After BTS’ Grammy Performance Videos Get Scrubbed Over Licensing Claims!
When the explanation surfaced, it only raised the level of frustration among BTS ARMYs.
Ever since BTS shared the news that they would not put forward any music for the Grammy Awards, the internet has met with strong reactions from many sides. People offered a lot of thoughts on the matter, and the head of the awards group also shared a statement. In the middle of these discussions, fans noticed that the group’s videos from the Grammys had vanished from websites and video platforms. When the explanation later surfaced, it only raised the level of frustration among ARMYs. Read on to know all about it.
What Is BTS ARMY Saying Over Licensing Claims?
As per reports, officials explained that the videos were removed when the usage deals ended. This had nothing to do with the group deciding to skip the 2027 Grammy Awards. A spokesperson told Korea JoongAng Daily that award show performances stay online only for a limited time under the rules. The BTS videos were taken off the official site and YouTube years ago. This is a normal step that happens for many artists. The deals usually last one year or less and can differ, so removing the videos is common once the time is up.
A Recording Academy representative reportedly stated that BTS Grammy performance videos were removed due to “expired licensing agreements”, and not because of the group’s decision to skip this year’s Grammy submissions. pic.twitter.com/FQfj3vRRWE

Fans quickly tied the missing videos to the recent boycott news. They pointed out that the Dynamite and Butter stages each garnered more than one hundred million views and ranked high among the most watched clips from the academy. Even after the official words came out, they raised doubts over it. Some people questioned why the timing seemed to match the boycott announcement so closely.

Others noted that the videos had remained online for three to five years after the original 2021 and 2022 shows, which seemed longer than the usual one-year limit described. On the other hand, fans, aka ARMYs, strongly accused the academy of adjusting its story in response to the wave of criticism.
