Exclusive: “It’s Humbling But Exhausting”: Manoj Bajpayee Reacts To Gangs Of Wasseypur, The Family Man Memes

There isn’t a single role played by Manoj Bajpayee that hasn’t left the audience in awe of his acting skills. The actor recently appeared in Netflix’s Killer Soup opposite Konkona Sen Sharma. During an interview with the cast, I got the opportunity to ask Manoj Bajpayee about his characters that have made for some popular memes on social media. In his response, he expressed gratitude for all the love but well, Manoj Bajpayee also revealed that he is a little tired of it. The actor’s response had me going ROFL!

Manoj Bajpayee On His Memes!

From Gangs Of Wasseypur to The Family Man, many characters of Manoj Bajpayee still stay relevant among the youth through memes on social media. I was keen to know the reaction of the Killer Soup actor to the various memes. The actor laughed and then said, “Initially, it was quite flattering that it still stays so relevant. Gangs Of Wasseypur came nine years back so it’s big that people are still making memes and the new generation is falling for it. It’s a good feeling but it is also kind of exhausting now. At times, it gets to you. I feel really lucky that I am still working and still relevant, the 16 and 18-year-olds are coming to me requesting a photo and all these things are humbling.” Adding to this, Konkona Sen Sharma said, “There’s always an attempt to not get attached to that success.” Manoj Bajpayee agreed with his co-star and said, “That’s what it is. Also, it was one chapter of your life that’s gone. You can’t go back there, and the truth of life is that you have moved on.” I also made sure to tell him that the audience is still not over his role in Gangs Of Wasseypur and all those epic dialogues, to which the actor responded with a huge smile.

While sharing his thoughts on the various social media memes, Manoj Bajayee also recalled a funny incident that happened with him in Bengaluru. The actor said, “Once a young boy came to me and requested a photo, and he asked his friend to not take a still picture but rather a video which I was not aware. Suddenly he started saying chaabhi kidhar milega, chaabhi kidhar milega, and I was left flabbergasted. I couldn’t understand what he was doing but later I realised he was making a video and saying this dialogue from Gangs Of Wasseypur.” Everybody in the room started laughing after Manoj Bajpayee narrated this anecdote.
