A film always finds its audience. Even after 6 years of its release, Laila Majnu directed by Sajid Ali, starring Avinash Tiwary and Triptii Dimri holds a special place in the hearts of all the cinephiles. The beautiful love story was weaved by Imtiaz Ali and Sajid Ali. I was quite curious to know why we have not seen Avinash play such a hardcore romantic hero since then. During a recent interview with us, the Madgaon Express star finally opened up about it and shared his fond love for the film.

Avinash Tiwary On Laila Majnu
Avinash Tiwary is currently soaking in the success of his recent release Madgaon Express along with Divyenndu, Pratik Gandhi and Nora Fatehi. I sat down for a fun interview with the actor and spoke at length about his filmography. And well, how could I forget to talk about one of his most loved films Laila Manju directed by Sajid Ali? During the interaction on this subject, Avinash Tiwary opened up about why he did not do a romantic film after Laila Majnu. He said, “If someone has done a film like Laila Majnu, everything else seems to be so dull in front of it. So if I ever get a project of that nature again, I will be the first one to do it.” Avinash further added, “I would love to do rom-coms too but if we are talking about a pure love story, I would like to do a film which has longevity like Laila Majnu.”

Talking about Imitaz Ali, Avinash Tiwary recalled his shoot days during Laila Majnu and said, “I have a lot of respect for him because he can see and understand things I couldn’t. But I will learn eventually.”
