K-pop group EPEX have made a powerful comeback with their 7th mini album, Youth: Epilogue. It is the fourth and final chapter of their acclaimed Youth album series, and it has already earned massive love from fans. In an exclusive interview, the members opened up about their journey of growing up and shared heartfelt messages, dedicating songs to ZENITH, who are struggling. Read on to know all about it.
1. Your song BETTER DAYS talks about standing right on the line between youth and becoming an adult. For each of you, what is the scariest part about growing up, and what is the most exciting part?
WISH: I think growth always comes with failure before success, and honestly, that process of failing is probably the scariest part for me.
MU: Rather than feeling scared, I’m actually more excited about growing up. I’m looking forward to seeing how I’ll change and mature as a person.
A-MIN: To me, growing up means gradually learning more about the realities of life. What excites me most is wondering how many more experiences I’ll have and what I’ll be able to achieve. At the same time, I’m a little afraid of leaving behind the innocence and freshness of my youth.
BAEKSEUNG: The scariest part of growing up is that you take on more responsibilities, but I’m excited to have more experiences and meet all kinds of different people. I want to keep growing with excitement rather than fear.
AYDEN: As I get older, I sometimes feel more pressure to succeed, and that can make me anxious. But on the other hand, I’m excited because I can see both myself and the members becoming more mature and even cooler as we continue to grow.
YEWANG: Honestly, I don’t think I’m afraid of growing up. I’ve always wanted to keep growing, and what excites me most is seeing how the people around me react when they notice my growth.
JEFF: What scares me is the feeling that if I’m growing too slowly, it might seem like I’ve stopped growing. At the same time, I’m excited to see the version of myself that comes after I’ve perfected a performance or mastered a song.
2. If you could dedicate just one track from this album to a fan who is currently struggling with their mental health or feeling stuck, which would it be and why?
WISH: I would choose “Call it love”. The song has such a beautiful melody from beginning to end, which is incredibly moving.
MU: I’d choose “BETTER DAYS”. I believe it’s a song that can truly comfort our fans, and I hope it gives them strength.
A-MIN: I would recommend “BETTER DAYS” because its lyrics are filled with hope for the future.
BAEKSEUNG: I’d choose “BETTER DAYS”. Even if things feel difficult right now and it seems like you’re stuck, the song reminds us that better days will eventually come. I hope it can bring our fans even a little comfort and hope.
AYDEN: I’d like to recommend “Call it love”. For ZENITH, who may be struggling to understand or express their feelings, I hope this song helps them experience and better understand what love feels like.
