The rise of cybercrime has once again targeted a public figure, with Sacred Games actor Elnaaz Norouzi becoming the latest victim of an online threat. Someone tried to blackmail her and threatened her to release her private photos. Elnaaz Norouzi has taken legal steps against the person responsible. Read on to know more about the situation.

In a conversation with ETimes, Elnaaz Norouzi revealed that the trouble began when she opened an email in January. The email had her password in the subject line, which made her curious. Inside, she found her private pictures and a threat: if she didn’t reply, the pictures would be posted online. Elnaaz Norouzi quickly contacted the cybercrime cell. They traced the email to a server in Switzerland but couldn’t find the person’s details because the server hid user information. While the account was shut down, Elnaaz Norouzi was worried that the person might try again with a new email.

During the investigation, Elnaaz was asked whether she liked an unknown link. In response, she remembered clicking on an unknown link. Later, the cybersecurity team helped her secure her devices and told her to change passwords regularly and report anything suspicious.
The experience has deeply upset Elnaaz. She feels scared to check her emails or social media and is afraid that her private photos might be leaked. She says she feels like her privacy has been taken away and that someone is always watching her. Elnaaz Norouzi has even had to seek therapy to cope with the anxiety.
